August 26 Newsletter – Pastor Bill
Could it be that God wants us to pray for each other? I think so. And He doesn’t just want us to pray for people who are sick. Our prayer lists are filled with people who are sick and need the great physician. But when was the last time you prayed for someone to be spiritually strong? Instead of praying for a healing, when was the last time you prayed for someone to have the grace to endure?

Many churches see a drastic reduction in attendance, activities and ministries during the summer months. At Rock Bridge Baptist Church, we de didn’t experience that. You have been faithful in your attendance, your giving, your service and your ministries. So far, I haven’t had a lazy, hazy day of summer. I’m kind of glad of that because I like serving our Lord along side of you. Continue reading

Try this as an experiment. For the next week, as you begin your day, ask your Forever Father to see your world as He does, to have His heart for every situation you’ll face that day. I bet if you do that your world will look different. I bet there would be less stress, less anger, less frustration. If we did this, I bet we would gossip less, curse less, yell less, criticize less. Perhaps we’d end up being more like Philippians 4:7 Christians – Rejoice in the Lord always… And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. The Bible says, “For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse” (Romans 1:20). At the end of Genesis 1, God saw all that He had made and it was very good. Through God’s wonderful creation not only do we see God’s handiwork we also see evidence of the One True and Living God. >”Christianity has fought, still fights, and will fight science to the desperate end over evolution, because evolution destroys utterly and finally the very reason Jesus’ earthly life was supposedly made necessary. Destroy Adam and Eve and the original sin, and in the rubble you will find the sorry remains of the Son of God – {you’ll} take away the meaning of his death. If Jesus was not the redeemer that died for our sins, and this is what evolution means, then Christianity is nothing.” Continue reading

For Christians, trying to accept the prevailing evolutionary-long-age view undermines basic tenets of Christian belief. Consistent application of the evolutionary worldview to the Bible, bending the Bible‘s teaching to make it fit, results in either atheism or a religion’ indistinguishable from atheism. I was talking with someone this week about forgiveness and what it means in the context of letting people who have hurt us back into our lives. You see, we all pray that God will continue to take us back when we sin. I’m so very thankful Jesus said we should not be forgiven just 7 times, but 70 times 7. I’m real hopeful that means “Don’t keep count; just keep forgiving,” because I know I’ve probably gone over the 490 in several aspects of my life. And I have to cry out, “Lord, please take me back again!” Continue reading

One of Nimrod’s big problems was pride. He wanted to make a great name for himself and show the world that life without God was just fine. Sadly, many churches today have become prideful in their desire to be bigger and better than the church down the street and make a great name for themselves. Continue reading

One of those days
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Habakkuk 3:17-18 Continue reading

How can I say thanks for the things you have done for me?
Things so undeserved, yet You gave to prove your love for me.
The voices of a million angels could not express my gratitude.
All that I am and ever hope to be I owe it all to Thee.
